December Daily 2010 | Day Eight

Welcome to Day Eight of December Daily 2010!

Today's page features a photo of my oldest daughter Katie that I love.  I think it really captures her beauty and sweet personality.  I took the photo with the flash off on my camera.  The result is a bit grainy but I really like the lighting and just how natural it feels.  Then I edited it a bit in Photoshop to add a partial border using some of Ali Edwards' Holiday Word Art.  Here's a picture of the front.  The photos have been coming out kind of dark...I'm thinking I should try to photograph my pages in the morning instead of the evening to get better results.

I saw a really neat technique in Scrapbooks, Etc. that I wanted to try out.  Most of my pages so far have been really simple but I had a bit more free time today to play.  I used my Cricut to cut a variety of 1" and 1.5" circles out of the Making Memories Noel patterned paper, and adhered them to my page next to the coordination trims.  I like how it turned out, but I think next time I need a much larger photo, so it doesn't seem to get lost on the page.  I also added some paper and felt poinsettias from the same line.

JOURNALINGMy darling Katie, how did I get so lucky to have such a daughter as sweet spirited as you?  Your silly sweet personality and happy face are definitely things that I love
most about the holidays.
Here's a picture of the back of Day Eight:

For the back I included a page from one of my Pottery Barn catalogs.  Can I just say I love Pottery Barn?  Checking out their catalog is total eye candy for me, so of course I had to include it here because I get so much inspiration from it!  At the top I attached a tag from a wreath that I ordered this season for my front door using one the Recollections jeweled brads from Michael's here in town.

JOURNALINGA page from one of the Pottery Barn magazines, which I love.  Maybe even more than scrapbook magazines.  So much pretty inspiration here.  For some reason this year I’m really drawn to the silvery glittery things this year.  Bought some spray glitter and wooden craft ornaments and will see about trying my hand at this! Love decorating for the holidays.

So there is Day Eight.  So far I'm really enjoying documenting these moments...definitely looking forward to Christmas break so I can spend some more time with my kids!  So glad to be home with my family for the holidays!

  1. I love your pages for the 8th. The photo of your daughter is beautiful. In a way I'm quite glad we don't have Pottery Barn over here in the UK, I love their stuff and know I would want to go there ;-) xx
